11/22/11: 23w 1d Sonogram:

Well, we showed up 15 minutes early, the doctor's office was PACKED, and we were told they were running 30 minutes behind. We went in about an hour later. FUN FUN.
The girls looked great. They saw all 4 chambers of baby A's heart. Baby B, on my left, was head down and feet up by my heart. Baby A was breach, and they quickly switched over to 4d to get a face shot of her. It was really cool. Baby A weighs 1lb4oz and Baby B is 1b1oz.
I have to have sonograms every 2-3 weeks now to keep an eye on their growth pattern. Unfortunately due to the 3 hour trip it takes to visit that office, I will be alternating between my regular hospital and that one. They'd prefer I stay with them, as they have the state of the art equipment. But they understand that I can't get there like that. Then in a few weeks from them, I go weekly for sonograms.

11/14/2011 22 Weeks Update:

WOW~ I am horrible at keeping this updated!!! As of yesterday I am 22 weeks along!! I am having fraternal twin girls!!!
On the afternoon of my 21st week, I felt them kick on the outside for my first time, and Jason was right there and got to experience it too! It was so cool! They haven't stopped kicking since! Well, I mean, of course they have, LOL, they do sleep (usually in the afternoons). I found myself awake that first night of the kicking from midnight til 3am, non stop. And a big sarcastic thumbs up when I say, "ohhh don't I love when they spin around and kick my bladder". LOL They have seriously kicked it hard enough for me to go, "oomph" out loud!!

I had my 22 week appointment yesterday! Things are still PERFECT! I CAN NOT BELIEVE I DIDN'T UPDATE THIS ON GENDER DISCOVERY DAY!! So, I will pause for a moment..... the day we went to our ultrasound, we were 19 weeks. Fifteen minutes into it, we discovered the first girl, then they kicked their feet at each other during a half an hour into it, then we found out the other was a girl, 15 minutes after that. Jason was there, and his sister was right there too. It was really cool! So real. I mean it still hasn't fully hit me at times, but I am warming up to the idea every day.
As for it being two girls, it is what Jason wanted, and that's cool, because his Aunt, who is younger than he is, was the first girl in 5 generations!! Then I think he has a cousin, then his daughter, and now our two!!
After the appointment, we went to Five Guys..... yummmmmmm!

So here I sit, 22w & 1d. Babies kickin' up a storm. It is sooooo hard to pick out names. I haven't even tried consulting with him yet.
Okay, back to my appointment yesterday. I got to hear their heartbeats, along with hearing them kick on the doppler. It was really cool. I have gained 6 pounds this past month, which makes 8 pounds total during the pregnancy. I got permission to use the elliptical, just can't let my heartbeat go over 150... or she might have said 145, I can't remember. Oops.
I am measuring at 27 weeks in the womb. It makes sense... there are two!
There was no trace of down syndrome in the babies, which we knew, we just wanted to have the test done, especially since insurance paid for it.

We have another ultrasound appointment this coming Tuesday, the 22nd. I will be 23w &1d. The tech didn't see all 4 chambers of Baby A's heart, but she wasn't too concerned as she was still pretty young. They are thinking everything is gonna be okay.

I stand at work the entire time, and my work recently purchased a bar stool for me to sit in to be more comfy, and in hopes to keep me employed there longer. I am so grateful!!

Friends, family, and coworkers have been amazing!! I couldn't ask for better.

Jason finally felt it was time to tell his ex on Sunday night- that we were expecting. She didn't take it well at all.  She swung at him, at his car, called him names, and told him he wasn't allowed to call there for his daughter. She is so childish and selfish.

Besides that, I couldn't ask for a more perfect pregnancy.

Ohhhhhh, I have had two pregnancy cravings. One day in like my 19th week, I had nachos with melted cheese and dipped them in peanut butter, bacon and banana all smashed up. DELICIOUS!!
Yesterday I had a Pay Day chocolate bar and Cheetos mixed together. YUMMMM
I really don't eat much junk food at all, and certainly not a lot of chocolate.

Okay, I'll wrap this up. Have a wonderful day!!

10/17/2011: 18w Check Up (NOT Update... that will be concluded at the END of the week):

So I went to see the Nurse Practitioner for my 18w belly check. I wasn't particularly fond of her. She was old, had googly eyes, and [again], kept forgetting that I am having twins, and kept talking about them as if they were one. My boyfriend told me to just remember that not everyone gets pregnant with twins. They are soooo used to seeing women with one baby.
She did the belly measuring with the tape measurer. She says normally they wait awhile, but where I am pregnant with 2, it was time for it. My uterus is measuring at 20w.
I have ONLY gained TWO pounds through this pregnancy so far! She said I should have gained like 13- 17 pounds by now.
She says everything is perfect.
I took my boyfriend's sister with me, cause I knew she'd love it, and I loved having her with me.
We got to hear the heartbeats, atleast one heartbeat for sure. The NP honestly said, "I really don't care about finding 2 heartbeats, just as long as we hear one". WOW! She tried looking for the one that sits back further on my left, and I am sure she got it. I heard 2 separate heartbeats, and she did too, but she didn't want to input the numbers into my chart.

I go for the wellness & gender sonogram in exactly ONE week!

My boyfriend's birthday was on Sunday, and his mom gave him the funniest card! It was a sock puppet, and he was opening a gift, and it says, "C'mon, please be socks!!" You open the card and there is a picture of a pair of socks and it says, "Yeah baby! Twins! Hope you get everything you want on your birthday" and then his mom wrote, "....and more". How fitting is that card!?! I can't stop laughing about it! She's really excited about having more grandbabies!

17w Update:

How Far Along: 17 weeks

Best Moment this week: Wow, so much happened. I had a couple of scares, one I WON'T post about, but let's just say my skills were needed to assist the guys, and I am just so darned good at doing what I do, that I really did something dumb. Hung out with my boyfriend's daughter, she got to spend the night (I didn't see her til the next morning since I was working). She was seriously talking jibberish into my belly and she has NO clue that I am pregnant, it was soooo weird!
Do you plan on finding out the gender: we will on October 25th!!
Interesting news: Uhmmm I am carrying pretty high.
What I am looking forward to: our Sunday off together and going to the other hospital.
Belly Button: In, I hope it stays that way!

Divorce was finalized! Things are coming together! My friend Andrea gave me a beautiful car seat! I have been feeling them move around quite a bit. The baby on the right is more active, much like it's father... it can't sit still. The baby on the left so far feels like it's more calm, like me.
Gender: we find out on October 25th!!!!
Do you plan on finding out the gender: yes, to be better prepared.

14w Appointment; Met the New Doctor:

So I did change doctors. This new one is fine. Better than who I had. They took someone else by accident instead of me during my time yesterday, so I had to wait 45 minutes for the doc to see me.
They tested my thyroid over again because levels were different than what they had expected. But the results came back and everything was fine. I was told that I am having the perfect pregnancy. Which is great news. She told me that I am carrying a lot larger in the womb than someone having a singleton pregnancy at 14 weeks.... that's OBVIOUS! LOL! There are 2 in there. I got to hear their heartbeats again.
I was told that I get to have monthly ultrasounds to watch their progress. They are sending me to a different hospital that specializes in twin pregnancies with state of the art equipment--- this is just for the ultrasounds, unless I deliver before 36 weeks. I am fine with traveling to that hospital. I will be going to that hospital in 5 weeks- for them to monitor their growth, and on that day we get to find out the genders!!!
I was told that I have to gain 40 pounds and that I should stop working at 32 weeks. But we will play it by ear.

12w Sequential Screening Test for Down Syndrome & More:

I went and had the ultrasound and blood work done to test for Down Syndrome and other things that can be detected. I chose the ultrasound, because  it was another way to get a look at the babies and see if they were still going good. Jason went with me!! The babies were soooo cute! One was kicking and moving around, and the other had hiccups. It was so cool to see. The ultrasound tech looked a lot like Mina Suvari, she wasn't a good picture taker. There was an understudy in there too. Full bladders are awful!!! I swear I almost peed myself a handful of times sitting there! The babies were cooperative though, thankfully.
I borrowed a scanner from my ex and will put their pictures up shortly.

11 Week Update:

How Far Along: 11 weeks
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Actually since becoming pregnant, I have lost 6.6 pounds
(documented here: Kate's Weight )
Maternity Clothes: None yet, my old clothes still fit but I can tell something is there
Best Moment this week: so far, not being sick! My boyfriend's banking on overtime!
Gender: too early to tell, but tales say the different heartbeats could be indicative of a girl and a boy. They also say with them being in their own separate sac, it's more common to have a boy and girl.
Do you plan on finding out the gender: I never wanted to with a singleton, but yes I want to, to be better prepared with twins.
Food Craving: this week, not too much, it was Ranch dressing that stayed UNFULFILLED because it has raw egg in it. But anything fatty and greasy I drool over. I discovered dipping my fries in Russian dressing= AWESOME! Fruit, juice, pizza, veggies.
What I miss: My boyfriend's drink, it has aspartame in it so I can't have it :( , The steady nights of sleep I developed when I first got pregnant.... I slept through the entire night the first month and a half-I never even heard him get out of bed at night! I also miss being able to "go all night".
Sleep: Feeling pretty great, still nap when I can.
What I am looking forward to: making sure they are still alive and kicking and being able to announce our pregnancy to the world!
Belly Button: In, I hope it stays that way! It actually hurts today for some weird reason.

Today I am 11w 1d, and feeling GREAT!

I had your typical signs of pregnancy in the beginning: DROP DEAD EXHAUSTION; and sore breasts.
On the 6th week, I was nauseous every morning at 5:00am, and then again at 10:30am, unless I ate something.
I threw up once then, after woofing down my lunch at work.
On my 7th week I was never nauseous, but threw up once or twice.
I wasn't nauseous again until my 9th week. My 9th week... every morning was rough, but tolerable. Once I threw up, I was good to go! I threw up like 6 times that week. I switched to a liquid breakfast to help, but that still came up. And it was truly "morning sickness". I only got ill in the mornings. I mean, as I post this, it can change tomorrow. LOL
My 10th week, again, threw up just a couple times.
I am really blessed (knock on wood), because there are tales out there that symptoms are exaggerated with twins.
So to only throw up 10 times in 11w 1d, is GREAT!

I had period type pains til about my 8th week or so. It's just things stretching to accommodate the babies.
My boobs are getting big. I was a 38DDD already! On my 10th week my veins really started to protrude through my boobs.

I mean, there are days that I don't "feel like" I am pregnant, but I also don't know what I am supposed to be feeling.

Why is My Pregnancy Such a Surprise? P.C.O.S.

In March 2010, I was diagnosed with PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). I was devastated. I had ALWAYS wanted children, and was being told that if I was to try it, I'd have to get on medications and blah blah blah.
Well a year and a half later, and here I am: PREGNANT with NO help and while taking precautionary measures to NOT get pregnant!
I was on the mini pill (birth control pill). This is a pill that you are to take everyday at the same exact time. And boy did I! I set my alarm to go off at 1:35am EVERY DAY, because I ALWAYS knew where I'd be after midnight.... in my bed.

8/16/2011: Appointment with the O/B.

I had my appointment with the O/B. The moment he stepped foot into the office, I remembered why I hated him as my gynecologist.
Jason went with me, again! That was really cool to have him there with me. Though I bet if you asked the doctor what Jason looked like, he couldn't even tell you, because he never looked his way.
This doctor is a weirdo, sounds/ behaves drunk, and isn't very professional.
I had to ask him all about my blood work.
He messed up during the visit and said "you and your baby" when there are TWO.
I walked out of there knowing I was going to switch O/Bs.
I can't have a long term relationship with something that is supposed to be caring for me and my babies.

8/8/2011 Announcing the "Double Trouble" to their Father! LOL!

I got out of the hospital and immediately called him. I said, "I have good news, and bad news". He said, "Just give it to me". I said, "Well our BABIES are very healthy". He thought I was kidding. I swore to him I wasn't. He said, "I'm gonna have a heart attack!! I'm going to have a stroke!! I'm going to go into convulsions!!!" Truly hilarious to hear him, but seriously it was quite the shocker!

8/8/2011: There's something about those "double" numbers:

On August 8th, I went in for a full pregnancy panel (bloodwork) and a full bladder for the ultrasound. I had a really cool ultrasound tech. She was moving the Doppler all across my lower stomach and she sings out, "I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOUUUU!" Well, me, thinking she is just being funny, is thinking she's going to say, "You're pregnant". INSTEAD................ she says, "YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I felt as if I levitated off the bed, snapped my head to the larger patient screen, and screamed, "WHAT?!?!!?" Then I saw them there, clear as day! I got to hear their heartbeats too!! I measured at 8w, right on schedule. Baby A's heartbeat was 186 and Baby B's heartbeat was 168. Both within PERFECT range for their age range.
The babies are in their own separate sacs. They are not identical.
Then she did the internal wand sonogram. That was really neat. Plus I had to have an empty bladder to do that one, which I didn't mind at all!

8/2/2011 First Visit with the Nurse Practitioner:

Jason went with me to my appointment. I was really happy to have him there. The NP was very nice, super funny and easy going. We just answered a lot of questions, and then she gave me a quick internal exam. She said I felt like 8 weeks, I was 7 at the time.
Because I got pregnant on the birth control pill, she set up a dating ultrasound to find out exactly how far along I was.

7/18/2011 AFTERNOON:

I went to Planned Parenthood, and they confirmed my pregnancy.
I was called into work, so I was not able to greet my boyfriend at home and talk about the pregnancy once he got out of work.

7/18/2011 Big FAT Positive!

I always kept a stash of pregnancy tests, and decided to pull one out considering I was one day late. Usually, once that happens, it summons my period, and I get it the next morning.

NEVER IN MY LIFE did I expect to pee on a stick, and see TWO lines! (cellphone pic)
Those lines came up so quickly!

I probably exclaimed "OH MY GOD" about a million times. Emotions ran wild. I was scared, happy, confused, shocked.... you name it, I felt it.
I called my lovely boyfriend to tell him the news. The way I announced it, was not how I pictured it to happen, just everything was so unexpected.
